We journey through Cat Ba, the largest island in the Gulf of Tonkin, renowned for its stunning landscapes and diverse ecosystems, including lush forests and limestone cliffs. Trails lead us through dense foliage, home to rare wildlife like the Cat Ba langur, symbolizing the island's biodiversity.
Cat Ba's rich cultural history is evident in ancient remnants and traditional fishing villages, reflecting the inhabitants' deep connection with the sea and land. The island's beaches, such as Cat Co Beach, offer relaxation and adventure, with opportunities for kayaking and cave exploration.
Hiking to viewpoints reveals panoramic vistas of the archipelago, showcasing the island's dramatic topography. This journey offers both physical adventure and an exploration of the harmony between nature and culture on Cat Ba Island, promising an unforgettable experience. Embrace the wonders of this remarkable island!

Other than in the main towns the island is untouched and as wild as ever. 90 sq kilometers were declared a National park in 1986.
Surrounded by magical waters and beaches that are alive with sea natives... fish, Jellyfish, crabs, birds, bats, and of course us....most natives are eco friendly, lol.
Much of what I saw was capped off my incredible scooter ride with Teddy....who showed me much of this fabulous island
Of course we also have the magical waterworks each evening during the Cat Ba festival.
There is kayaking through the magical waters, hiking into the natural hinterlands, surrounding the island.

Another amazing adventure was a journey to the Field Hospital with Teddy. A cave that was used as a bomb proof hospital during the American war in the 60's. Also it was used as a safe house for Viet Cong leaders....such an incredible 3 tier architectural structure in a Cave.
Almost un-imaginable.
Then the ending climax was the Cable Car journey from Cat Ba to the mainland and
Hanoi
The journey back to Hanoi is now in motion before moving onwards and upwards to places as yet unknown....keep you posted.
In actual fact the next journey is about to arrive on your table.....Pu Luong in northern Vietnam . We will immerse ourselves, and marvel in the incredible mountains and rice fields . Hold your breathe because here we come....
